About the Author

Jerome D. Gilmartin has presented his book, The 7-Step Reason to be Catholic, 2nd Ed.: Science, the Bible and History Point to Catholicism, as a guest on Johnnette Benkovic's Women of Grace program on EWTN TV; on Brian Patrick's Son Rise Morning Show on EWTN Radio; on Our Faith, our Diocese on CTV, The TV station of the Diocese of Scranton; at annual catechetical conferences in the Scranton and Harrisburg Dioceses, Knights of Columbus and Cursillo groups and various parishes.

Mr. Gilmartin hosts In Love of Christ, a weekly program on WQOR / JMJ Catholic Radio, 750 A.M., which brings EWTN and local Catholic programming to most of the Scranton Diocese. He received a B.S. Degree, with majors in psychology and philosophy, from the University of Scranton in 1959. For the next two years he studied psychology at Fordham Graduate School, Bronx, N.Y., followed by two years of military service. He later began what would become a 20-year career in human resources with GTE Corporation, now Verizon Corporation, an opportunity that brought him, his wife Marie and daughters Ann and Joan to Towanda, Pennsylvania; Stamford, Connecticut; and Syracuse, New York. After a subsequent seven years as a psychological services associate at a Pennsylvania State center for the mentally retarded in Hamburg, he retired in 2001.

A lifelong Catholic, he served as a member of the Apologetics Committee of the Diocese of Scranton, PA, as well as in RCIA, an ecumenical organization, Cursillo, Marriage Encounter and as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. He has been active in the Scranton Chapter of the Men of the Sacred Heart, as a member of the local Catholic Radio Advisory Committee, as a member of the Catholic Outreach / RCIA team at a local state prison, and as a catechetics teacher and lector. He and Marie, his dear wife of 45 years, reside in Madison Township, PA and are members of St. Eulalia Roman Catholic parish in Roaring Brook, PA.
